Support Groups

Autism Support Group

The autism support group is dedicated to offering support for individuals who are 18 or older and have high-functioning autism. You will have the opportunity to meet others with autism and will have a safe space to discuss personal life events and other topics. Possible topics could include interacting with others, bullying, friends and family, dating and sex, time management, financial issues, dealing with anxiety, feeling alone, improving social skills, and much more. The group is open to members of the Greater Dayton community. The Ellis Human Development Institute accepts Medicaid, and the fee without Medicaid is based on a sliding scale.

When: Meets every other Monday from 5–6 p.m., starting March 5–May 7, 2018

ADHD Therapy Group for Children

This seven-session group is for children from ages 8 to 12 years old. The format will be six weekly groups for children and one-time parenting group. Children must be able to participate in a group setting. The Ellis Human Development Institute accepts Medicaid, and the fee without Medicaid is based on a sliding scale.

Services

Counseling services follow a collaborative model where clients and providers work together to understand the client’s goals and develop a plan for meeting those goals. We offer many types of counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults, including:

  • Individual counseling for children, adolescents, and adults
  • Couples and relationship counseling
  • Group counseling
  • Family counseling
  • Parent training for children with attention problems and/or disruptive behavior
  • Play therapy
