This is a "pre-practicum" experience for students who matriculate at SOPP without previous clinical training. FYCE is typically completed in one of our internal training programs, with assignments made by the DCT and the Clinical Training Committee. The goal is to expose students to the various roles that clinical psychologists have as mental health providers and supervisors, and to provide an initial exposure to clinical work through observation, co-therapy or direct service provision. Students who have had a previous graduate level practicum are automatically waived from this requirement. Others are individually reviewed for assignment. There is no academic credit offered for this requirement.
Assignments are made based on information in the student's admission file. Students are notified by the DCT by email of their status for this course.
